Five clear priorities grounded in fiscal responsibility, student outcomes, and honest community leadership.
Hayward Unified School District faces real challenges, including financial pressures, major structural transitions, and the ongoing work of making sure every student has access to a quality education. I am running because I believe the school board must ask hard questions, review data carefully, and make decisions with long-term student success in mind.
Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency
Ensure district resources are managed responsibly and that every budget decision is made with students in mind.
Public schools depend on public trust, and that trust is built through honest financial management. I believe the school board has a fundamental responsibility to review budgets carefully, ask probing questions, and make sure every dollar is directed toward student learning and wellbeing. HUSD has faced significant financial pressures in recent years. I will prioritize rigorous budget oversight, clear communication with the community about financial realities, and a commitment to making difficult decisions based on evidence. Transparency is not just a value. It is a practice. I will advocate for accessible financial reporting, regular community updates, and a board culture that welcomes scrutiny.

Strong Schools Through Collaboration
Build a district where students, families, educators, staff, and the community work together toward shared goals with honesty, accountability, and mutual respect.
Strong schools are built when students, families, educators, staff, and the community work together toward a shared goal. As a school board member, I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and make balanced decisions that keep students at the center while supporting a strong, financially responsible district. My responsibility is to every student, every family, every educator, every classified employee, every administrator, every taxpayer, and the entire Hayward community. The best outcomes happen when people work together with honesty, accountability, and genuine respect for one another. Fiscal responsibility protects classrooms, supports student success, and ensures the district remains stable for generations to come. Respect, trust, and open communication are not aspirational values. They are the foundation of a school district that works.

Sixth Grade Transition Oversight
Ensure the district's sixth grade transition is implemented with strong oversight, family communication, and accountability for student outcomes.
HUSD's transition of sixth grade students to middle school is a significant structural change that affects thousands of families. Major transitions like this require careful planning, strong oversight, and a genuine commitment to evaluating outcomes, not just implementation. I believe the school board must make sure this transition is monitored closely, that families receive clear and timely communication, and that the district is held accountable for student outcomes throughout the process. I will ask for data, listen to families and educators, and advocate for adjustments when the evidence calls for it.

LCAP and LCFF Accountability
Ensure Local Control Accountability Plan goals and Local Control Funding Formula resources are aligned with student needs and producing real results.
California's Local Control Funding Formula directs significant resources to districts serving high-need students, including English learners, foster youth, and students from low-income families. HUSD receives substantial LCFF funding, and the Local Control Accountability Plan is the district's commitment to using those resources effectively. I believe the board must take LCAP accountability seriously. Not as a compliance exercise, but as a genuine tool for improving outcomes for the students who need the most support. I will advocate for LCAP goals that are specific, measurable, and connected to real student experiences, and for honest reporting on whether those goals are being met.

Budget Challenges and Long-Term Sustainability
Address HUSD's financial challenges honestly and make decisions that protect essential services and ensure the district's long-term health.
HUSD faces serious budget challenges that will require difficult decisions in the coming years. I believe the school board must confront these challenges honestly, with the community, with staff, and with each other. Avoiding hard conversations does not make the problems go away. It only delays them and makes them harder to solve. I will advocate for a long-term financial planning process that is transparent, community-informed, and focused on protecting the programs and services that matter most to students. Responsible stewardship of public funds is one of the most important things a school board member can do, and I am committed to doing it with integrity.
